US President Donald Trump is expected to meet the leaders of the Gulf countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in which the next steps regarding the ongoing war with Iran will be discussed.

US news website Axios reported, citing three sources with direct knowledge, that the meeting next Tuesday is likely to focus on US proposals for post-war strategy.

The Trump administration is working on a broader plan, dubbed ‘Day after War’, likely to be finalized after the US mid-term elections in November.

According to the report, leaders or foreign ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are expected to attend the meeting on Tuesday.

Axios has said that the leaders of other Arab and Muslim countries may also be included in this meeting.

According to the report, the US State Department sent out the initial invitations on Wednesday.

The report says that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu also wants to meet with Trump in New York, but no meeting has been arranged yet.

On the other hand, the United States has refused to grant an entry visa to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the United Nations General Assembly next week.
