Actor Yasir Hussain has said that I have absolutely no objection that people recognize me because of the name and success of his wife and actress Iqra Aziz.

Yasir Hussain recently appeared on Ifta Umar’s podcast, where he opened up about his identity, his wife’s success and societal expectations of masculinity.

Yasir Hussain says that if people know me because of Iqra Aziz, then I don’t mind it, I have full confidence in myself, so I don’t feel any inferiority about it.

He raised the question that if a woman is doing excellent work, what is wrong with her husband being known by her name, if the wife’s name is big and she is doing excellent work, then the husband should be proud of her success.

Yasir Hussain said that society has established concepts of masculinity regarding being strong and weak which are not necessarily correct, being a man has nothing to do with being identified by one’s own name or being identified by one’s wife’s name.

He said that a man should not feel inferior due to the success of a woman.

Yasir Hussain also referred to another actor’s recent statement, in which the actor expressed reservations about filming certain scenes of his wife with another man.

Yasir said that he respects the actor’s personal opinion, especially since he is a director himself and is entitled to his opinion.

He said that sometimes common things are exaggerated on social media and unnecessary debates arise from trivial statements. It is not right to call a person a great person just for expressing a particular opinion.

Talking about the change in his thinking, Yasir Hussain admitted that maybe this thinking was not always part of me, but after marrying Iqra Aziz, I understood it more clearly.

“After meeting Iqra, I strongly realized that this is a good thing and it should be like that, the person who works harder and whose name is more prominent should get full credit,” he said.

Yasir Hussain also clarified that the name ‘Iqra Aziz’ is still listed in the official identity documents of Iqra Aziz, while on Instagram she has used the name ‘Hussain’ of her own accord.

According to Yasir, I never asked Iqra to do this and writing the name ‘Hussain’ on Instagram was completely Iqra’s own decision.

Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz got married on 28 December 2019 in Karachi. Earlier, Yasir had proposed marriage to Iqra at the Lux Style Awards ceremony in the same year.

The couple welcomed their first son Kabir in July 2021, while their second child, daughter Sophia, was born in January 2026.
