The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Munam Zafar Khan has said that the impression is being given of giving powers through the Sindh Local Government Bill 2026, while the People’s Party is not ready to give authority to local bodies.

Talking to the media in Karachi, he said that an application has been filed against the Sindh Local Government Amendment Bill.

Munam Zafar Khan has said that the People’s Party has once again started rigging before the elections.

He said that in practice the powers will remain with the provincial government while under Article 140A the local bodies should get the powers.

Munum Zafar further said that due to the lack of distribution of powers in the country, administrative units are being discussed, while the Sindh government is not ready to transfer the powers to the lower level.

Amir-e-Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi also said that the democracy of the People’s Party is limited to saying that the subordinate institutions of Baldia Uzma Karachi (KMC) have been taken over by the provincial government.
