A couple got married in knee-deep floodwaters in the Philippines, where large parts of the country have been under water for the past month due to heavy rains.

Despite the flooded St. John the Baptist Church in Manila, Lian Lisa Galang dressed in a white wedding dress and carrying a bouquet of white flowers carefully waded through the floodwaters to reach the church, where she married Gilbert Chico.

The groom, Gilbert Chico, has said that the couple had fully prepared for the wedding and we didn’t care that the gown and coat would get wet.

The church’s pastor pronounced the two husband and wife in a brief ceremony attended by fewer than 15 people.

According to reports, the church management had advised the couple to postpone the wedding due to the rising flood, but both decided to go ahead with the ceremony.

The church was partially submerged in flood water for about 1 month, as the couple wanted to complete the wedding anyway, the church staff tried their best to make the day memorable for them.

It should be noted that 34 people have died due to landslides and flash floods in the northern part of the country due to more than normal monsoon rains in the Philippines during August.
