Pakistan Telecom Authority has started checking the alternative power arrangements at the telecom towers.

According to the announcement in this regard, steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted provision of mobile phone services during loadshedding. The teams are inspecting the towers in urban and rural areas of different cities. Performance of batteries, generators and solar systems are being evaluated.

According to the declaration, checking is going on in various zones including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Abbottabad and Peshawar. Availability of mobile signals and services in areas affected by loadshedding is being reviewed.

According to PTA, local representatives are also identifying affected areas along with PTA teams, identifying areas with weak mobile signals or non-availability of service in case of power outage.

Chairman PTA directed the zonal offices to continue monitoring the telecom towers regularly.

According to PTA, alternate power system is being monitored to provide uninterrupted telecom services to consumers.
