Renowned Indian actress and director Ratna Pathak Shah, recalling the experience of working with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, praised his intelligence, self-confidence and simplicity.

Ratna Pathak Shah played the role of Fawad Khan’s on-screen mother in the film ‘Khoobsurat’ and ‘Kapoor and Sons’.

He described Fawad Khan as an intelligent and confident person and said that he was well aware of his personality and abilities.

According to the actress, Fawad Khan had achieved the status of a big star in Pakistan even before coming to India, but despite stepping into Bollywood, he did not carry his fame unnecessarily and acted like a true team player.

Ratna Pathak Shah also recalled her closeness with Fawad Khan in both the films.

He has told that Fawad Khan used to lovingly call me his ‘permanent film mother’.

Fawad Khan made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with the film ‘Khoobsurat’ and quickly became popular among the Indian audience, later he worked in ‘Kapoor and Sons’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

Due to political tension between India and Pakistan, Fawad Khan’s journey to Bollywood was also limited after restrictions were imposed on Pakistani artists from working in the Indian film industry.

Ratna Pathak Shah had criticized the restrictions on Pakistani artists at that time and called it a problem, but he said that it is not a problem that cannot be solved.

He termed limiting the cross-border involvement of artists as narrow-minded, saying that art can help people connect with each other and learn different stories.

Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema through the film ‘Abir Gulal’ has also been subject to controversy due to continuous political tension.
