The passengers of the PIA flight from Karachi to Jeddah, on receiving the report of fire in the engine number two of the aircraft, made an emergency exit, but the spokesperson of PIA has denied the fire.

According to the sources, the aforementioned incident occurred while the Airbus aircraft was parked at the parking stand of Jeddah Airport, where the pilot started the emergency evacuation on the report of fire in the engine.

Sources say that the passengers were safely taken out by opening the slides through the emergency exits, however, a few passengers sustained minor injuries and were shifted to the Jeddah Airport Clinic for medical examination and treatment.

Jeddah Airport fire department officials also immediately reached the plane along with the fire brigade, where PIA Jeddah officials immediately informed all airport authorities and security department while Jeddah airport officials also questioned the PIA staff about the matter.

On the other hand, the spokesperson of PIA says that the plane had a normal landing at Jeddah Airport, the plane was on the jetty during which the ground staff suspected a fire in one of the plane’s engines, the pilot opened the emergency slides (shoot) of the plane to evacuate the passengers as per SOP.

The spokesman said that some passengers came out of the plane through the jetty and the rest of the passengers were taken out of the plane through emergency slides (shoots) while no passenger was injured during the operation and all the passengers are safe.

According to the spokesperson of PIA, after a detailed examination of the aircraft, the suspicion of fire was proved false, the Jeddah-Lahore flight of the affected aircraft was delayed for 20 to 22 hours, 40 passengers of the Jeddah-Lahore flight were sent to the hotel while the rest of the passengers went home.
