Section 144 has been implemented across Punjab, the provincial home department has issued a notification.

According to the notification, Section 144 has been implemented across Punjab from today till October 5, banning the carrying and display of weapons in public places.

Provincial Home Department has banned gathering of more than 5 people in public places, highways or open space.

According to the notification, inciting people to participate in illegal gatherings has also been banned.

The ban will not apply to marriage ceremonies, funeral prayers, burials, mosques and other places of worship. Section 144 was imposed in view of serious threats to public peace and life and property.

The notification states that the protection of life and property of the people is the top priority of the Punjab government.
