The Standing Committee on IT and Telecom held a meeting in which the issues of banning the use of Tik Tok Live, stricting the use of internet by children below the age of 16 and creating a super messaging app for government officials were discussed.
A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecom was held under the chairmanship of Senator Palusha Khan. Meanwhile, Senator Afnanullah said that very inappropriate and dangerous activities are happening on Tik Tok Live.
Additional Director NCCIA said that NCCIA requests APTA in writing.
Chairman PTA said that Tik Tok Live is officially banned in Pakistan. There is nothing related to using Tik Tok Live by installing a VPN.
Senator Afnanullah said that content related to insulting Islam is being created on Tik Tok Live.
Senator Kamran Murtaza said that such things are being deliberately spread in the society.
Chairman PTA said that some countries have banned the use of social media by children under 16 years of age. Has met with Minister of State Talal Chaudhry regarding the use of social media by children.
He said that 500 complaints are coming in Pakistan on a daily basis related to social media.
The committee members said that the Internet should be strictly enforced for children under 16 years of age.
During the meeting, the agenda of selling sensitive data of Pakistani officers abroad was also considered.
Additional Director NCCIA said that a group selling sensitive data of bureaucrats, high-ranking officials has been busted. A gang has been caught in Rawalpindi. The gang was selling the data of top officials abroad for money.
The committee recommended the creation of a super messaging app for government officials. The standing committee also directed the PTA to start the work related to making the app.
The agenda regarding notification of Telecom Competition Rules was taken up in the committee. The Standing Committee has given 15 days to the IT Ministry for consultation with the telecom companies.
It has been decided to convene a joint meeting of the Standing Committee on Privatization and IT on the arrears of privatization of PTCL.
Senator Kamran Murtaza says that the link between Supreme Court and Quetta Registry was not connecting.
The committee chairperson said that there are complaints regarding internet service being affected in Islamabad. Briefing will be given in one month regarding internet services in the whole country.
