Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has been awarded the 2026 Global Parliamentary Equality and Diversity Award.

Speaker KP Assembly has been given this honor for promoting parliamentary participation of women, minorities, children and youth.

On September 17, Babar Saleem Swati was honored at the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

Speaker Babar Saleem Swati could not reach Cape Town himself due to a legal hurdle related to his passport. Member Provincial Assembly Ahmad Kundi and Secretary Assembly Syed Waqar Shah received the honour.

Parliamentary caucuses for various sections, initiatives related to water, sanitation and hygiene became the basis of honor.

In his statement, Ahmad Kundi said that our assembly receiving honor at the global level is an acknowledgment of the international recognition of the provincial parliament.
