Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfikar Hameed has said that the attacker rammed a vehicle full of explosives into the gate of the old police lines, after the explosion, firing also took place.
According to the Central Police Office, 7 armed terrorists entered the police lines, police and CTD fought the terrorists vigorously, so far 6 terrorists have been killed.
According to the authorities, suicide bombers and snipers are among the dead terrorists. The clearance operation against the terrorists is in the final stages.
President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned terrorism in Kohat and expressed regret for the loss of life.
President Asif Zardari said that the complete elimination of Fitnah-ul-Khawarij and terrorists is indispensable for national security.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed to provide immediate and best medical aid to the injured and sought a report from the concerned authorities on the nature and causes of the explosion.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the explosion in Kohat and expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the families of the martyrs and said that they are standing with the families of the martyrs in their hour of sorrow.
He further said that the cowardly actions of the Kharijites cannot weaken the firm resolve of the nation.
Chief Minister KP Sohail Afridi took notice of the Kohat blast and sought a report from the police authorities. He said that the cowardly act of terrorism was very sad and unacceptable.
