The district court of Seoul, the capital of South Korea, ordered North Korea to pay 32.5 million dollars in damages for the destruction of the joint liaison office in 2020.

According to the report of The News International, the court has also directed North Korea to bear the costs of the case, but due to the strain of diplomatic relations, it is not possible for South Korea to recover this amount, while the chances of North Korea implementing or responding to the decision are also less.

According to the report, in 2020, North Korea blew up an empty liaison office built by South Korea. Pyongyang argued that Seoul had failed to stop activists sending anti-North Korean propaganda pamphlets across the border. South Korea condemned the action as illegal.

The decision comes at a time when tensions remain high on the Korean Peninsula.

In 2019, after talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump failed, the nuclear conflict between the two countries became more serious.

The report claims that North Korea has continued to build up its nuclear capabilities, calling South Korea its main enemy, and has strengthened ties with Russia and China.

Last month, President Trump talked about limiting military exercises with South Korea and expressed his desire to meet with Kim Jong-un, but this was met with a cautious response from North Korea.

North Korea has not yet responded to the South Korean court’s decision.
