The US Federal Court temporarily banned President Donald Trump’s decision to bar reporters from CNN, MS Now and Politico from entering the White House and ordered the immediate restoration of access to journalists from the three media organizations.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued the order in a lawsuit filed by the three media outlets against the September 18 ban.

The court held that the journalists were not given due notice and opportunity to appeal as per constitutional requirements before canceling their press passes.

US President Trump, while announcing the ban, accused the three organizations of continuously broadcasting ‘fake news’ and fabricated reports.

On the other hand, lawyers for the US Department of Justice defended the ban on access to the White House in court, citing national security concerns.

The court’s order will restore journalists’ access to the White House for the time being, while further proceedings will continue on constitutional and legal issues in the case.
