Production is officially underway in the UK on Pinyin 3a highly anticipated continuation of the beloved British sitcom. While Netflix has officially announced the start of filming, a recent set of photos have been revealed, as revealed today by British newspapers such as woman, Daily Mail and The sun (via Click News), she revealed a slew of new faces have joined the famous foursome — and teased a huge wedding that appears to belong to none other than Jay Cartwright.
First reported by the Daily Mail, candid footage has emerged from the UK set showing a huge wedding sequence currently being filmed. While we’ll be detailing those specific images in a separate article very soon, the images let the cat out of the bag in regards to several new additions to the cast, a surprise returning face, and a major plot point.
And as Netflix’s initial announcement confirmed, all of the original players are back. Simon Bird (Will Mackenzie) James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper), and Blake Harrison Neil Sutherland reprise their iconic roles.
However, leaked notes and images also confirm a return Emily Headwho will reprise her role as Carly D’Amato, Simone’s longtime school crush. You can also see Simon’s brother, Andrew Cooper, who plays him Dominic ApplewhiteHe’s back too, but he looks older! Simon’s father is back too, playing himself Martin Trenaman.

Who’s joining the cast? Pinyin 3?
As for the new faces joining the Netflix feature, set photos reveal a somewhat American-leaning group. Even more interesting? It looks like the wedding being photographed is actually Jay’s! Was it possible for the ex-husband to eventually be able to lock up an American bride?
Here are the new cast members spotted on set and who they’re playing:
- Marina Bay – According to photos and reports, she is scheduled to play the role of the bride. Her recent credits include Wonka and Bridget Jones: Boy crazy.
- Hannah Cruz – American actress and Broadway star (Hamilton, It is enough, Chess) He was reportedly seen filming a close-up scene with Simon Bird (Will).
- Lisanne Falk She is best known for her breakout role as Heather McNamara in the 1988 classic film Heathers (Alongside Winona Ryder and Christian Slater), Falk appears to be part of the American Wedding/Family ensemble, likely playing one of Jay’s new in-laws.
- Marama Corlett – Actress, whose impressive genre credits include Black mirror, His Dark Materialsand the houralso joins the cast.
- Tadhg Murphy – Irish actor, known for his roles in… copper, Vikings, Black sailsand Northmanhas been cast in an undisclosed role.
- Vanessa Engineer -A new cast member photographed during the wedding scenes; Its exact role is currently unknown.
We also identified, from the set of images, Jack Staddon (Dragon House, Slow horses) and Ewan Mitchell (Wuthering Heights, Saltburn, Dragon House), where the latter is shown playing the role of a priest.

behind the camera, Pinyin Creators Damon Beesley and Ian Morris are back to write and direct the third film for Netflix.
Upon their return to the series, Paisley and Morris shared a joint statement in Netflix’s initial press release: “It’s been a lot of fun spending time with our friends again, and we’ll be working hard every week to ensure we don’t have any problems making this new movie for the humans.”
The film is produced by Claire Jones alongside Patrick Holland of Banijay and Mark Lesperle of Fudge Park Production. Executive producers on the project include Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Susan Knight, Tom Jordan, and Farhana Paula, in addition to Morris and Paisley.
For those who need a refresher, Pinyin It was originally broadcast on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010. It followed the adventures of suburban teenager Will Mackenzie and his friends Simon, Neil and Jay in the fictional Rudge’s Comprehensive Park as they navigated school life, friendship and largely failed sexual encounters.
Over the course of three series, it set new ratings records for the channel and won numerous awards. This was followed by two highly successful films backed by Film4, released in 2011 and 2014. The first went straight to number one at the box office and set a record for the biggest opening weekend for a comedy in the UK at the time of its release, and the Australian-set sequel also broke box office records.
