In the meeting of the National Assembly Finance Committee, Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal says that subsidies were being done in many places which are being abolished, there are a total of 174 amendments that the IMF wants to pass.

In the meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance of the National Assembly chaired by Syed Naveed Qamar, the Finance Secretary said that we have told the IMF that approval of the amendments is the power of the Parliament, we will place all these amendments before the Parliament.

Secretary Finance said that the IMF mission has come to Pakistan at this time, the review negotiations with the IMF mission will start from Monday, the sovereign wealth fund is also a part of the review negotiations, the governance mechanism in the sovereign wealth fund has to be approved, the benchmark is to get the amendments in the sovereign wealth fund approved by the parliament.

He said that there is an understanding with the IMF on remittances, the negotiations with the IMF will also include the liberalization of the sugar policy, three provinces have agreed on sugar, one province has some objections.

Javed Hanif Khan said that we know very well which is the protesting province.

The finance secretary said that there is a matter related to Islamic banking that we are working on, matters related to the tax policy office will also be discussed, along with the mission, there will also be discussions on the privatization of discos in the power sector.

Chairman Committee Naveed Qamar said that you will give the profitable discos, what will happen to the rest.
