Protesters in the UK mistook the Pakistani under-19 cricket team for immigrants and knocked on their hotel doors, but the players showed responsibility and did not let the situation escalate.

According to British media reports, protesters gathered outside a hotel in Portsmouth and targeted Pakistani cricketers.

About 30 to 40 people gathered outside the hotel on Tuesday evening, according to Reform Party county councilor George Madoc.

In a social media post, he appealed to people not to come to the hotel and wrote that the hotel staff have shown me evidence that the people staying there are members of the visiting Pakistan U-19 national cricket team.

Hampshire Police also confirmed the incident, saying that upon receiving information, officers reached the hotel and spoke to the protesters and explained to them that their concerns were not valid.

He said that the officials did not find evidence of any crime, while the group of protesters who gathered outside the hotel at 6:30 pm dispersed at 9 pm.

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Operating Officer Samir Syed said that a group of protesters reached the floor where the Pakistani team was staying and knocked on their doors, but the players showed responsibility and did not let the situation escalate.

According to Sameer Syed, the Pakistani team also played their scheduled match the next day.

According to the BBC, the England and Wales Cricket Board has inquired about the welfare of the Pakistan Under-19 squad and is reviewing security arrangements for the remainder of the tour.

It should be noted that this incident happened 2 days after the incident when hundreds of protesters blocked the streets of the city after about 120 migrants in a boat were brought ashore.
