British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, addressing the United Nations General Assembly, has emphasized the need for global cooperation, rules and safeguards to secure artificial intelligence.

He has said that although AI can be a source of immense benefits, the risks associated with it are also increasing rapidly, to deal with which the global community has to adopt a common strategy.

Andy Burnham says that Russia has in the past conducted a disinformation campaign to create chaos in British institutions and society, while there is also evidence of Russian interference in the 2019 British general election.

The British Prime Minister has said that artificial intelligence can multiply such threats in the future, so Britain will have to face these challenges.

He announced that the Center for Information Defense is being established to counter Russian cyber attacks and disinformation, which will further strengthen national security and information security.

Andy Barnum also said that the UK will make the safe, responsible and effective development of artificial intelligence a key priority during its presidency of the G20 next year to promote global cooperation in the field.
