Bollywood’s leading filmmaker Karan Johar has recently spoken about the changes in his film choices after the passing away of his father Yash Johar.

According to Indian media reports, the filmmaker, who made his directorial debut with the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, has said that if my father was alive, he would have never allowed me to make the film Kabhi Vadaa Na Keha.

Speaking during the Moroccan Film Festival, the 54-year-old director shed light on the reasons for choosing a theme like infidelity in his 2006 film.

Karan Johar said in a special interview that I lost my father just before directing this film, my father was my moral guide, in many ways I don’t think he would have allowed me to make this film, because he was a very traditional and conservative person, he also looked up to Shah Rukh Khan.

“When he passed away, I felt that supervision was no longer there, so I decided to break all the boundaries and barriers and create what I wanted to create. I realized that now I am free. At the end of this experience, I felt that I have become an adult,” he added.

It should be noted that Yash Johar, the well-known film producer and founder of Dharma Productions, passed away in 2004 at the age of 74.

The Karan Johar-directed film Kabhi Vadaa Na Kehna was a major success at the box office and was the fourth highest-grossing film of the year worldwide.

The romantic drama film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan and others in lead roles.
