Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Sheikh says that women have to fight against patriarchy.
According to Indian media reports, the actress has discussed the day-to-day gender biases faced by women in the film industry and society and said that women will have to fight against these attitudes.
The actress spoke about the issue at the trailer launch of her upcoming court drama film ‘Hankar – The Roar’.
Fatima Sana Shaikh said that we start from two steps back, whatever room you are in, whatever position you are in, whatever your position in power or hierarchy, it doesn’t matter because it is the result of society’s training.
“It’s not that we don’t deserve it, we don’t know what we want or we’re not smart, but society is structured in such a way that it doesn’t give you a chance, society tells you to wait a minute, prove yourself first,” he said.
The actress emphasized that the responsibility of promoting patriarchy is not only on men, but women also sometimes imbibe the same social thinking, we all have been brought up in the same social environment, we have to fight against it.
It should be noted that actress Fatima Sana Shaikh will present similar themes on screen in the film ‘Hankar – The Roar’, where she is playing the role of a bold and blunt police officer.
Directed by Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, the film will be available for streaming on JioHotstar from September 25.
