Former US President Barack Obama’s pet dog ‘Sunny’ has died at the age of 13.

Barack Obama has shared several photos of Sunny on Instagram, reminiscing about her and expressing grief over her death.

Obama has described Sunny, a Portuguese water dog breed, as a ‘force of nature’ who enjoyed spending time with his two daughters and running around the White House’s South Lawn.

He wrote that Sunny loved his daughters despite teasing them during their sleep, he was also with every member of the family and often supported them in their work.

The former president also mentioned the bond between Sunny and Bo, the family’s first pet dog.

Barack Obama mentioned some of Sunny’s interesting habits, saying that he liked the company of humans more than dogs, made a lot of noise when drinking water and, despite being a Portuguese water dog, he did not like getting wet at all.

Sunny was perfect for my family in almost every way and was always with us for 13 years, loyal, loving and adventurous, while maintaining her swagger and beauty until the end of her life, Obama has said.

The former US president has also said that Sunny will be greatly missed by the family.
