US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose heavy tariffs on European countries or end trade with Europe if Canada becomes a member.

The US President has described this proposal as absurd and has said that EU membership to Canada would be an anti-American move.

He said that if the European intention is good, then fine, but if the intention is bad, European countries will face heavy tariffs.

According to foreign media, European Commission President Ursula Van der Leyen has proposed to make Canada an associate member of the EU.
