The Saudi coalition has said that its air defense system intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone that attempted to enter Mecca’s airspace.

The Saudi coalition said in a statement that the drone sent by the Yemeni Houthis was intercepted before entering the restricted airspace around Mecca.

The protection of the two holy mosques is a red line and the coalition will take necessary measures against the Houthis.

Earlier on Tuesday night too, sirens sounded in Saudi Arabia’s cities of Jazan, Abha and Khamis Mushit about the threat of an attack, but the warning was withdrawn after some time.
