The Pakistan Olympics Association has surprisingly announced a 14-member team for the Asian Games of soft tennis, an unpopular and unplayable event in Pakistan.
Most of the players in the team are those who have hardly ever played tennis. The head of Pakistan Tennis Federation, Easam-ul-Haq, is also surprised by whose permission the soft tennis team in Pakistan is going to participate in the games, its association too.
The national team will leave for Japan from Islamabad on September 14 for the Asian Games to be held from September 19 to October 4 in Echi-nago, Japan. Unknown players are likely to slip.
In the last 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou (China) in September and October 2023, Pakistan’s overall performance there was also very disappointing and it was one of the worst performances by Pakistan in the history of Asian Games.
This time too, Pakistan Olympics Association has announced to send a large batch of unknown players, which includes a 14-member soft tennis squad.
Soft tennis does not exist in Pakistan, neither does it have events nor does it have an association.
Jang tried to contact Khalid Rahmani, Nowshad Ahmed and POK Secretary Khalid Mehmood to know their position about the soft tennis team but could not be contacted.
However, the head of Pakistan Tennis Federation, Easimul Haque, expressed his surprise on sending a big team for soft tennis and said that we do not know that soft tennis exists in Pakistan, I will check who are the people who run it. And with whose approval is this team going?
He said that there are not so many events as people are being sent. Pakistan Sports Board is ruining sports, they say whoever can give money should go to any event. Two tennis players, a captain and a coach (four persons) are going to the Asian Games.
