Elon Musk becomes richest American, Forbes list continues

Along with being the richest person in America, Elon Musk has also earned the honor of being the world’s first billionaire.

According to the 2026 Forbes 400 list, Elon Musk’s net worth is $908 billion, after which he is ranked first in the list.

According to the 45th annual list of Forbes 400, the total assets of the 400 richest people in the United States have reached a record 8 trillion dollars, which was 6.6 trillion dollars last year.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is second with $378 billion in assets, while Alphabet’s Larry Page is third with $278 billion.

Michael Dell is fourth with $263 billion and Sergey Brin is fifth with $256 billion.

Mark Zuckerberg with $212 billion, Larry Ellison with $204 billion, Jenson Huang with $199 billion, Steve Ballmer with $156 billion and Warren Buffett with $144 billion are on the list.

According to Forbes, assets of at least $4.4 billion were required to make the list this year, up $600 million from last year.

Forbes attributes this increase to the increase in the wealth of technology founders due to advances in the fields of artificial intelligence and data centers.

The artificial intelligence revolution has also boosted the number of youngest billionaires on the list.

This year, 10 billionaires under the age of 40 are included in the list, compared to only 4 in 2025, 7 of them are on the list for the first time and all of their wealth is related to the field of artificial intelligence.

Anthropic’s Daniela Amudi and Tom Brown are worth $15.5 and $15.5 billion respectively, with OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, 37, the richest new entrant to the list with $25.5 billion.

Cognition co-founder Steven Howe, 30, is the youngest person on the list with a net worth of $5.8 billion.

Jeff Bezos is the richest person in the state of Florida, followed by Oracle’s Larry Ellison with $204 billion and Interactive Brokers Chairman Thomas Peter Fife with $107 billion.

Abigail Johnson, chief executive of Fidelity in Massachusetts, is the wealthiest with $41.6 billion in assets, while New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is worth $15.2 billion.
