British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a major step against disinformation spread by hostile states, including Russia.

In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, the British Prime Minister said that Britain will establish a National Center for Information Defense against disinformation spread by hostile states, including Russia.

According to him, Russia is spreading lies and disinformation through bots, fake websites and other means, while artificial intelligence can further increase these threats.

Andy Burnham added that the UK would also play a role in efforts to establish global safety standards for AI.

The British Prime Minister also referred to Russian interference in the 2019 general election and cyber attacks on British institutions.

Russia has rejected such accusations in the past, calling them ‘anti-Russian bias’, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has also accused the Western media of adopting an anti-Russian narrative.
