
In the Indian state of Karnataka, an investigation has been started against the niece of Member of Assembly Umesh Matti for her long absence from the government clinic and studying at a private medical college at the same time.
According to Indian media, the politician’s niece, Dr. Ankita, is accused of being absent from Namma Clinic from March 3 to September but receiving a monthly salary of more than 70,000 rupees.
The authorities have ordered them to appear before the inquiry again on September 18 or face unilateral action.
According to the Indian authorities, withdrawal of the received salary, departmental action and referral of the matter to the Karnataka Medical Council and the National Medical Commission are also being considered.
Indian media say that the district health department has allegedly removed Dr. Ankita from the post.
