The American company reportedly fired its entire customer support team of 80 Indian employees over a 5-minute Google Meet call.

The affected employee said in his post on social media platform Reddit that the team was first instructed to work from home citing ‘operational reasons’, but then suddenly at 9.30 pm the management called the team on Google Meet and told them that the entire Indian customer service team has been laid off.

The affected employee has said that around 80 employees and their families have been affected by this decision.

The aggrieved employee has claimed that the employees were working continuously due to fear of job security and no prior notice was given to them before the termination.

When asked by social media users, the affected employee said that the company’s name is Bluevine, a digital banking platform that provides online business checking accounts, payment facilities and lines of credit to small businesses.

The affected employee said that the company said that the Indian team was not delivering the desired results as per the company’s expectations, hence the employees were terminated.

The claims of the affected employee have not been confirmed or denied by the company at this time.
