Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has met European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula Gertrud van der Leyen, and said that Pakistan is keen to continue close cooperation with the EU leadership.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York. In which various aspects of the relationship between Pakistan and the European Union were reviewed.

The Prime Minister expressed his determination to further strengthen the broad-based partnership with the European Union and fully implement the Pakistan European Union Strategic Engagement Plan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to continue continuous relations under the GSP Plus (GSP +) framework to promote trade with the European Union.

The leaders also discussed the regional and global situation and reiterated the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, international law and peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Prime Minister also invited the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission to visit Pakistan.
