The European Union proposed a complete ban on social media for children under the age of 13.

The President of the European Commission announced this tough digital health act called the EU Kids Act during his annual address to the European Parliament.

He said that Big Tech companies are depriving children of their childhood, which cannot be tolerated anymore.

Under this proposed law, the following 3 different levels have been set depending on the age to protect the mental health of children, the use of social media by children under the age of 13 will be completely banned.

Children aged 13 to 15 will not be able to create independent personal accounts, while social media platforms in the 15 to 18 age bracket will be required to provide youth with harmful algorithms and Safe Design.
