Despite the opposition of Iran, Russia and China, the International Atomic Energy Agency passed the resolution against Iran.

There were 23 votes in favor of the proposed resolution against Iran by the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany before the IAEA Board of Governors, while 8 members were absent.

The resolution calls on the head of the IAEA to send new and old resolutions against Iran and his updated report to the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly.

However, Iran, Russia and China declared the draft on the restoration of sanctions on Tehran null and void.

In a joint statement, Iran, Russia and China said that the draft resolution by Western countries completely ignored the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities and aimed to increase pressure on Iran and weaken cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.

This draft of the Western resolution regarding the demand for the restoration of sanctions against Iran has no legal basis. The three countries have called on IAEA members not to support the resolution.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has said that nothing will be gained by sending the issue of Iran to the UN Security Council on political grounds.

Kazem Gharibabadi said that the United States had attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities in order to influence the ratification process and use it as a basis to submit a resolution against Iran to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He said that Iran has not taken any action that could be considered as non-compliance.
