The election of the new president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be held today, the polling will be held in the Assembly Hall Muzaffarabad, after the completion of the election, the newly elected president will take the oath of office.

46 members including 32 members of Azad Kashmir’s ruling party Muslim League-N and coalition party Awami Dast-Bazu Party and 14 members of the opposition party People’s Party will elect the new president.

PML-N nominated presidential candidate Dr. Najeeb Naqi and Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Chaudhry Latif Akbar are contesting.

The meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for the presidential election will be held at 10 am under the chairmanship of Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq.

Invitations have been issued to members of the assembly, political and social figures and high civil and military officials to participate in the presidential election and the swearing-in ceremony of the elected president.
