Iran’s security chief Mohsin Rezaei has put forward new conditions for Tehran to end the war with the US.

In a special interview with Arab media, Mohsin Rezai has said that Iran has conveyed its terms to the US through Qatari mediators, that Tehran now has more war experience than in the first 40 days of the war, and that the US will be countered with more powerful and painful attacks.

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqir Ghalibaf, has also announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, saying that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until the United States fulfills its obligations.

Iran’s new terms include an end to the war, respect for the sovereignty of both countries, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, an end to the naval blockade and the return of Iran’s frozen assets.

The reconciliation agreement reached in June included an end to the war on all fronts, a $300 billion U.S.-backed reconstruction project for Iran, an easing of sanctions on Iranian oil exports, and conditions for no further U.S. military deployments in the region.

The Iranian security chief did not demand war damages from the US this time, however, regarding the nuclear program, he said that until now Iran has maintained the ban on the production of nuclear weapons, but the situation may change in the future.

Mohsin Rezaei has denied Iranian interference in the war in Yemen and said that Iran can help mediate peace between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

He also ruled out the possibility of closing the Bab al-Mandab strait.

On the other hand, the US has not yet given an official response to Iran’s new conditions.

US officials have instructed their citizens in several countries in the region to be cautious in view of the security situation.
